Freshieez earned September after more than 470 votes in a field of 43 hometown pizza nominees. On a rainy kickoff, 19 people plus Bruce showed up and got the full tour: thin crust, thick crust, pan, Detroit, New York, Chicago, dessert pizza, ice cream, and eventually Tiny, their ridiculous 36 inch pizza.

The apple dessert pizza went over well, but people raved about the blueberry. Best of all, a young Mobber got to help build Tiny in his GastroMob shirt. That looked an awful lot like a core memory being made.

Freshieez does pizza right, but they do community even better. Their Giving Tree says it plain: need a meal, take a meal; got a meal, leave a meal.
